The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) Health Department has directed the distribution of Oral Rehydration Solution (ORS) sachets to sanitation workers and gardeners across all zones of the city as a preventive measure against heat wave-related health risks.
The order, issued by Additional Director of Health Administration Dr Naresh Kumar, comes in compliance with a circular issued by the Additional Commissioner (HQ) dated April 27.
ORS packets will be supplied through three central medical stores located at Kalkaji (basement of PSMS Hospital), Alipur Road and Dilshad Garden. All Zonal Assistant Commissioners have been asked to collect packets from these stores for onward distribution within their jurisdictions.
The Kalkaji CMS, managed by Mahesh Kumar, will cover Central, South, West and Najafgarh zones. The Alipur Road store, under Vinod Saroha, will cater to Rohini, Karol Bagh, City SP, Civil Lines, Narela and Keshavpuram zones. The Dilshad Garden CMS, managed by Praveen Kumar, will serve Shahdara South and Shahdara North zones.
Officials have been instructed that one ORS packet must be dissolved in one litre of clean drinking water before consumption. The matter has been marked most urgent.
