The district administration conducted a mock drill to assess preparedness for a flood-like disaster on Thursday.
A number of departments of district administration including health department, SDRF, police, fire department, public works department, NSAS, NCC, Red Cross, and other departments jointly practiced relief and rescue operations.
During the mock drill, information was received about 200 people trapped in Swami Vivekananda School in a disaster situation. The rescue team rescued 17 injured people, while four seriously injured were admitted to the trauma center and treated. Thirteen people were sent to the relief center or discharged after receiving first aid. Similarly, 23 people stranded in the Yamuna river in Tapu Kamalpur village on the banks of the Yamuna river were rescued. After receiving first aid, they were sent to the relief center and discharged.
Food, water, and essential amenities were provided at the relief camps, and various departments coordinated their responsibilities. After providing relief in the disaster situation, Deputy Commissioner Preeti shared detailed information with the public.
She emphasises the importance of the availability of resources in hospitals, including ambulance arrangements, medicine stocks, and human resources. She also appealed to the public not to panic in the event of a disaster and to avoid rumors.
